A Sugar Plum Deogi_Dec182011_1753

Little Miss Sugar Plum came to us at the end of the year from the county pound.  She is a charming little girl, but had been repeatedly bred and consequently, mammary tumors had developed up and down her entire mammary chain.

A Sugar Plum Deogi_Jan132012_2072

We had the first surgery done about a month ago.  Dr. Moore removed the entire right side of her mammaries.  Pretty massive surgery.

A Sugar Plum Harris Belly LSSTLAR_Feb242012_2150

Last week, we removed the other side.  She has a cute little tummy now – got a great little tummy tuck!

But, the surgery cost was pretty high.   The total for the entire surgery was $1795.  She is healing well and will soon be available for adoption.

So far, we’ve raised $485 of the $1,795.   If this is one little girl that moves your heart, please consider donation to her care.  I know we are always asking, but without you, we can’t even attempt to save 250 dogs each year!

She has a PAYPAL set up HERE

Of course, Sugar Plum takes checks too.  They can be mailed to

Thanks for all you do for these little dogs!

A Daisy May LSSTLAR_Feb282012_2184

Daisy May is HOME!  Yes, she was released from the hospital and is now recuperating in a foster home.  And doing quite well.

We have had many, many donations for this little girl, but still need quite a bit more.  If you are moved but this gorgeous miss left by her owners at a shelter, who then got sick, please consider donating for her very large ($3700) bills.

Daisy is holding her own in the hospital right now.  She is eating and slowly recovering.  I believe we will be able to bring her home tomorrow.

We had to hospitalize her because her breathing was irregular and labored.  As you know, it’s costly to hospitalize a dog.  We’ve not only incurred the cost of hospitalization, we’ve run a lot of tests to figure out what, other than pneumonia, is causing her to be sick.  Please help this little girl.

Wow, we just cannot catch a break.  Dog after dog after dog with life threatening illnesses.

Little Daisy May was rescued from a county shelter just a few short weeks ago.  She is extremely heavy so we put her on a diet.  She quickly started losing weight and we were elated.  Then, she stopped eating and was hospitalized at our vet for a week.  He found out she has an extremely abnormal thyroid condition and started her on thyroid tablets.  She just got weaker and weaker and more lethargic.

So off she went to Gulf Coast to the miracle workers.  We did an ultrasound and ran a few more tests to determine what was wrong and found that she has a very large liver (don’t yet know the reason) and some abnormalities in the live, but nothing malignant.

Today, she was also diagnosed with pneumonia and will be staying at GCVS in critical care to pump her full of iv antibiotics and get her over this.

Please help us with Daisy May.  With Plymouth, Bronte and Joy Harris, our credit cards are maxed out.  We desperately need some relief so we can let Daisy May get the treatment she needs.

We’ve set up a paypal for Daisy.  Please donate for her.  She is such a sweet heart and we want to be able to leave her under the expert care of GCVS until she is cured.

Yes, indeed.  At approximately 11 pm last night, Judi heard a commotion in her back yard – and scratching on her back door.  Guess who it was?  JACKS!!!

No reward claimed!

Lucky Jacks, thankful Judi.

Thanks to all who worried about little Jacks – thanks to all who shared this story over and over and over.  It didn’t take a village this time – it took an entire STATE and even NATION!

Teresa

Yesterday afternoon, gorgeous little Jacks, one of the Mandettes, born at LSSTLAR after his mom was taken from a breeder in Waller County, went missing from his yard.  His dad was home and he was playing in and out of the house with his siblings.  When the neighbor’s tree guys left, Jacks was nowhere to be found!

Jacks is an 8 month old cute, 16 pound lhasa boy, mostly black with a white chest and paws.  He is neutered and microchipped.  He is shy and, as with most lhasas, wary of strangers.

His mom, Judi, is currently undergoing chemo treatment for an aggressive lymphoma.  She is, simply put, devastated.  Little Jacks, with his puppy antics, is what is keeping her going every day.  She NEEDS him back.

She is sitting, right now, in the hospital in San Antonio receiving treatment.  She was distraught last night and couldn’t sleep.  Her system is already being pounded by the chemo drugs, this loss on top is not good for her recovery!

We are offering a $1500 reward, no questions asked, for his safe return!  He may have simply escaped, as puppies do, and is running around in the Castle Hills Forest area of San Antonio.  OR, he may have been stolen and may be on the market anywhere – San Antonio, Austin, Houston – anywhere.

If you purchased this dog, we don’t care who you got it from.  We just want him back.  Bring him back and $1500 is yours!

Call 210-677-2357 with information.  Or email teresa@shihtzu-rescue.com

Or, go to our LSSTLAR facebook page:  www.facebook.com/lsstlar for information or to post suggestions or questions!

We just want him back.

I am SO excited. I have my very own forever home. I’m a Senior girl and very lucky that Jo-Anne Fields thought I was special. I had a long trip to get to my new home, but it was all worth it. I am going to be living in Kerrville, Texas with my new Mom. All I can say is “Thanks to everyone who made this possible!!!”

We received an urgent plea from a shelter south of Houston to take in these two adorable dogs.  We are so strapped for fund right now, because of all of our huge vet bills, we need to have these pupsters’ intake sponsorships BEFORE we can accept them in the program.

Two adorable little boys.  Don’t know much more about them.

This little pitiful thing.  A little male shih tzu, we think.

This little matted mess was found soaking wet during the storms last week.

Intake for these four is $1580.  As of 7 am, Wednesday 2/22/2012, we have raised $365 for them.  If you can help us take them in this week, please CLICK HERE for paypal or to send a check, the mailing address is

Please be sure to send me an email if you are sending a check so I can count it.

Thanks

Since we are having so much trouble with chipin, I’ve set up a special paypal just for what we need for Keen, Mistletoe, Melody, Sugarplum – our pupsters needing surgeries and heartworm treatment this week.

Beautiful Mistletoe is a cute little pup that was being neglected by her owner until a kind neighbor convinced the owner to surrender her.  She is an extremely adorable, sweet and charming little shih tzu girl with an amazing smile.  She also has demodex, so we moved her to the front of the line for heartworm treatment.  The most effective treatment for demodex cannot be done on a dog with heartworms.  Her total need is $745 and we’ve already raised $160 for her.

Keen Barker is a gorgeous little boy who had a death sentence at the shelter because of his heartworms.  We brought him in and he is now ready to get those worms G.O.N.E.  His total for basic vetting and heartworm treatment is $745 and we’ve only raised $85 for him.

Remember little Melody Barker – extremely pregnant little girl that started popping out puppies within two hours of us rescuing her from the shelter.  She needs surgery and heartworm treatment.  Her total is $2375, which includes all of the "maternity" costs, her surgery and her heartworm treatment.  So far, we’ve raised $460 for her.

Sugar Plum Harris – how gorgeous is this sweetie?  She was rescued from the county shelter and we found out that she had a heart murmur and mammary tumors running up her entire belly.  We took out one side of her mammary chain a few weeks ago and now it’s time for the surgery to remove the other side.  She needs funding for basic vetting, the cardiac workup we needed to do before she underwent such extensive surgery, and two intense surgeries.  Her total need was $1795 and we’ve already raised $485.

All of these added together totals $5565 and we’ve raised $1190 toward that.  As of 7 AM, 2/22/2012, we’ve raised another $765 for their treatment!!  Please continue to help!!

We need to help these pupsters THIS WEEK. Please, please help us help them.

The paypal to donate for them is HERE.

Of course, you can send a check to:

LSSTLAR
PO Box  218075
Houston, TX  77218-8075

be sure to let me know you are sending the check so I can count it.

Thank you for allowing us to help these pups.

I have a new home and I am so very excited. I have a new Mom Kelly, 3 human siblings and even a doggie brother named Mike. I think I may even get a new name and I can’t wait to see what that will be. I have lots of people to thank for making this adoption happen so that I can be in my forever home. Without the fabulous Lone Star volunteers none of this would have happened.
