A little over a week ago, I received an urgent email from a good samaritan in Mt Ida, AR.  The night before, in the middle of a severe thunderstorm, a friend had just seen six very matted little dogs near a creek in the backwoods near Ouachita National Forest.  She and her friend stayed up until 3:30 in the morning finding, catching and cleaning up the five little dogs that she was able to catch.  The sixth hasn’t been seen again.

Here are a couple of pictures of the dogs she found.

She contacted me immediately to see if we could possibly take them.  How could I turn these babies down?  Even though we are O V E R F L O W I N G with dogs right now, did I say we had a LOT of dogs?  Yes, we have many, but we still wanted to give these babies a chance at a good life.

Thankfully, a kind soul was traveling from Arkansas to Houston the next weekend and with a little help from another LSSTLAR volunteer, look what arrived in Houston  Sunday…..

There are many, many of the original photos of these dogs on our FACEBOOK PAGE HERE.  These babies were A MESS!  Gaston had branches growing through his coat.  I suspect that, given where they were dumped, the breeder thought he/she was dumping them so near the national forest, they would never  be found!
But, of course, now we’re in fundraising status to get these pupsters treated and up for adoption.  We had to take Gaston in on an emergency basis because his teeth were literally falling out of his mouth.
